FAQs
Red Clover provides outsourced HR support for small and mid-sized businesses. We partner with you to design and implement people strategies that fit your company’s size, structure, and goals — from compliance and compensation to leadership development and culture building.
We handle both the strategic and operational sides of HR — including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation planning, payroll and benefits, organizational design, and leadership development. Every engagement is tailored to your needs and evolves as your business grows.
If your business has outgrown basic HR administration but isn’t ready for a full-time HR department, outsourcing is often the right move. In our experience, most companies don’t need a full internal HR team until they have around 300 employees. Until then, an outsourced model gives you senior-level HR leadership at a scale and cost that fits your business.
We work on a retainer model — our pricing is designed to be comparable to hiring an internal HR professional. We estimate the retainer based on your organizational size, the maturity of your HR processes, and which processes are in scope for our engagement. We review the retainer quarterly, adjusting scope and pricing collaboratively as your business evolves.
Not at all. You stay in full control — we act as your HR partner. We guide, advise, and execute, but every major people decision is yours to make. Our role is to help you make those decisions confidently while keeping your culture strong as you grow.
Absolutely. Many of our clients already have an internal HR generalist or office manager. We supplement their work by providing structure, strategic guidance, and bandwidth — so your in-house team can focus on higher-value initiatives.
Data security and compliance are top priorities. You maintain ownership of all employee data and systems, and Red Clover ensures compliance with U.S. labor and employment laws. We follow strict confidentiality standards and work directly within your existing systems.
Most clients see tangible results within the first 30–60 days. Our onboarding process is structured to understand your business quickly — policies, people, and priorities — so we can start providing strategic and operational support right away.
We keep things simple and flexible — every engagement includes a 30-day termination clause. We don’t hold anyone to long-term contracts, and you’re free to make changes as your business evolves. Typically, our clients choose to transition away when they’re acquired or when they’ve grown large enough to justify building an internal HR function. In those cases, Red Clover helps source and select the right in-house HR team to take over.
Yes — that’s one of the biggest benefits. Red Clover helps you stay compliant with federal and state employment laws, keeps policies up to date, and supports proactive documentation. We help prevent problems before they become costly issues.
Your HR needs will change over time, and we’ll scale with you. As your company grows or restructures, we can adjust your retainer, shift focus areas, or expand our involvement. Our quarterly review process makes it easy to realign your HR support with your business goals.
We provide clear reporting on key HR activities during our bi-weekly check-in calls. Specific KPIs depend on what’s in scope for the engagement. For clients who want a more data-driven approach, we can connect HR metrics directly to business outcomes — helping you make informed, strategic decisions about your people.
We do both. We’ll help you manage the day-to-day (like payroll, employee relations, policies and compliance) while also developing long-term people strategies around culture, leadership, and retention. Our goal is to make HR a true business partner that drives growth, not just an administrative function.
Yes. Every engagement starts with an assessment to understand your business needs. Together, we’ll define what’s in scope and build a retainer that aligns with your goals and capacity. You can adjust services as your priorities evolve — we revisit the plan every quarter to make sure it still fits.
Yes. We act as an extension of your internal team, building real relationships with your employees. Our consultants provide responsive, human-centered support — so your people always feel heard, respected, and cared for.

We’re platform-agnostic. We’ve worked with most major payroll and HRIS systems, including Gusto, ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, Insperity or Justworks, to name a few. We’ll help you get the most out of your existing provider or guide you through a transition if a new one’s a better fit.
